- I'm using Chrome as my browser and I cannot download the software.
Try using Microsoft Edge. This browser works better when downloading software applications. To use the Chrome browser you will need to temporarily turn off Safe Browsing.In the Chrome browser, click on the three vertical dots from the top-right corner of the window and select Settings. Click Privacy and Security and then Security.Select No protection and then Turn off Safe BrowsingAfter you download the software you can go back and re-select Standard Protection. If you still cannot download the software please send an email requesting the evaluation program to help@microregister.com and we will forward a download link or request a Micro Register Flash Card delivered by mail.
- I can't send emails within Micro Register
You will need to create an App Password in your Google or Yahoo account and use this password in the email settings of Micro Register. This is done in the account security area of your Google or Yahoo account. Settings for a Yahoo Email account Outgoing Server Name (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.comOutgoing Server Port (SMTP): 465 User Name: your Yahoo email address@yahoo.comEmail Password: Must be generated online from your Yahoo.com account. To generate password from Yahoo:1. Sign in to your Yahoo account.2. Mouse over the email account name (upper right) and from the drop down click on Account Info.3. Click Account security and scroll down to Other ways to sign in, select Generate app password and Get Started.4. For the App Name enter Micro Register and click Generate Password. The password generated is the password to enter in the email setup of Micro Register.
- I have lost or misplaced my user name and registration code to install Micro Register
The user name and registration codes are displayed by clicking on Help and then About within the Micro Register program. If the software is not currently installed on any computer then you will need to E-mail help@microregister.com and provide us with the invoice number or company name to verify ownership. The codes will be emailed back to you.
- How do I backup the Micro Register data files?
There is a backup and restore routine available. Run Micro Register Utilities & Backup from your desktop. You can select a folder or external drive of your choice to backup to. An external USB flash drive is highly recommended for your backups.
* Note: If you get and error when running the Utilities & Backup program then right click on the desktop shortcut. Select properties, the compatibilty tab and choose Windows XP Service Pack 3.
- What 40 column receipt printer should I use with Micro Register ?
The Epson TM series (thermal or impact) printers are recommended with a USB interface. You will need to install the proper printer driver and select it in the company setup of Micro Register. Tech support on receipt printer installation is only provided on printers purchased from Micro Methods.
- When I enter an item number it moves down for the next item and not to the quantity sold.
The sales transaction screen is set in the Bar Code mode. This allows you to scan a bar code, default to a quantity of one and drop down for the next item. To turn this off uncheck Bar Code Mode.
- How do I run Micro Register on a computer network system?
Install the Micro Register software on all computers in the network. Destinate one computer as the server and all other computers as work stations. On the work stations edit the properties on Micro Register desktop icon to run the Micro Register.exe file on the server. i.e. the short cut target would be...

The server computers directory c:\program files (x86)\micro methods\ folder must have network sharing allowed. The data on the server will be accessed by and shared by all users in the network.
